Insurance Information

Medicare is the largest health insurance program in the United States, providing coverage to individuals over the age of 65, as well as to those under 65 who have been totally and permanently disabled for at least ten years.

If you are over 65 or qualify under Medicare benefits, you may be eligible for hospice care services at no cost through Silverstone Hospice Care. Medicare covers services that are deemed reasonable and necessary for the treatment of your diagnosis or condition, ensuring that you receive comprehensive care during your time with us.

Silverstone Hospice Care is committed to transparency and will inform you in advance about what Medicare will cover. We will also provide both verbal and written notifications regarding any services that are not covered by Medicare and their associated costs.

For those with supplemental insurance, additional services beyond what Medicare covers may be available.

Understanding Medicare Coverage for Hospice Care at Silverstone Hospice Care

Medicare is structured in two parts, each covering different aspects of healthcare services, including hospice care.

Part A (Hospital Insurance):

  • Eligibility: You are eligible for Part A at no additional cost when you turn 65, provided you or your spouse has paid Medicare taxes for a sufficient number of quarters during your working years.
  • Coverage: Part A primarily covers inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care services.
  • Hospice Care Specifics: For hospice care, Part A covers all necessary medical services related to the hospice diagnosis, including nursing care, medical appliances and supplies, prescription drugs for symptom control or pain relief, and support services for both the patient and the family.

Part B (Medical Insurance):

  • Enrollment: You can enroll in Part B when you turn 65. Enrollment requires payment of a monthly premium, which may be covered by Medicaid or another third-party payer if you qualify.
  • Coverage: Part B complements Part A by covering doctor’s services, outpatient care, and other medical services that Part A does not cover, such as physical and occupational therapies and some home health care.
  • Additional Services: Part B also covers durable medical equipment, mental health services, and some preventive services to support your health and well-being in hospice care.
